Department Overview

McDonald's International Developmental Licensee (IDL) Markets Segment / Business Unit (BU) the delivery and operation of core technology solutions across 79 markets, supporting 19,000+ restaurants and offices. Our mission is to implement innovative, secure, and scalable technology that enhances customer experiences and drives business success.

The Senior Director, Operations Excellence (IDL) plays a pivotal role in driving strategic agenda and operational efficiency of the IDL organization part of Global Technology. In this role will act as a trusted advisor, providing critical support in driving pivotal initiatives, leading cross-functional projects, and ensuring effective operations for people, processes and performance across the organization. This leader fosters a high-performance culture and enhances the overall effectiveness of the IDL leadership team.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

The ideal candidate is a strategic, self-motivated leader with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across business, market, and vendor teams.

Strategy & Alignment

  • Define the vision and role of the IDL Segment Technology team in line with global strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a 3-year Technology Roadmap to guide market-level planning.
  • Ensure alignment across Segment and Global teams through governance forums and leadership meetings.

Communication & Engagement

  • Lead internal and external communications to support planning, governance, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure timely updates on progress, risks, and key deadlines.
  • Drive internal communication strategies to foster team alignment and engagement.

Technology Governance

  • Oversee key programs in the Technology Roadmap (e.g., Sesame 1, GMAL, STA).
  • Serve as the primary liaison with Global Technology teams.
  • Govern adoption of global products and manage change and incident communication processes.

Talent Development

  • Support succession planning and talent retention through personalized development plans.
  • Shape team roles to align individual strengths with business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in business, technology, operational excellence, or related fields within a global, matrixed organization
  • Proven leadership at the Director level or above, with expertise in strategic planning, financial management, and process optimization
  • Demonstrated success in driving strategic initiatives that enhance business performance and operational efficiency
  • Strong track record in leading high-performing, diverse teams across geographies
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to execute in fast-paced, dynamic environments with a focus on results
  • Certifications: PMP, ITIL, Prince2 or Six Sigma a plus

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this role is $193,610-$251,690 per year
